Hey everyone!
I'm doing the Favourite Games challenge that
SirWongIII posted! I'll try my best to fill all the letters, but some of them might be cheating a little bit...
Like Sir Wong, I'll try to add fanart where I can, though I haven't been able to find it for all of the games so some will be official art!
Animal CrossingI am the most fervent supporter of Tom Nook you are ever likely to encounter... I first played this on the Gamecube and then the DS. So many happy hours spent!
BraggartThis is a great card game I first played with my dad and sister
norree at the local board games group!
Chamber of SecretsHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was one of the first computer games I ever played. Exploring Hogwarts was so fun!
DescentOne of our old Macintosh computers came with this game... Or did we have a disc for it from a long-forgotten source?
norree will know, but either way, we played this game so much that I was able to play the first level with my eyes closed!
Ecco the DolphinI've never played this game myself, but I used to watch
byrch play it and hear her talk about it. Perhaps that's when the obsession began...
Fire Emblem: Sacred Stonesnorree introduced me to this awesome game, so I'm featuring some throwback pieces of hers, including for her favourite pairing from the game -- Seth and Franz!! Such naughty knights... This game has great characters and fun gameplay! My fave was Joshua.
GubsFREE THE GUBS!!! This game is a new favourite, and I got a copy for my birthday a few weeks ago! We played it (me, my sister and my dad) the other day, and I first had a shocking victory before suffering a legendary humiliation... this is a great card game!
Harvest MoonWhere do I even begin? I love this game with an overwhelming love! It's one of my favourite franchises of all time. My two favourite titles are More Friends of Mineral Town for the Gameboy Advance and A Wonderful Life for the Gamecube. And my favourite Harvest Moon artist is my sister
norree, who has the best art for this game ever and has been drawing it for years! We have had a lot of fun draw sessions where we draw random Harvest Moon characters too. Here's some of her Harvest Moon art!!
Inuyasha: Secret of the Cursed Mask
My sister has been watching Inuyasha lately and it got me thinking about this game, which I played a long time ago! When we were growing up, we didn't have any video game consoles, but we'd go over to our friend Dennis's house and play video games there. I used to watch Dennis and his brother play this all the time, and I loved the rare times I got to play it myself!
JourneyOkay, I've never played this game, but I watched my sister play it a little and it is so gorgeous!!
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of MemoriesWhen you walk away, please don't hear me say, "Please, oh baby! Don't go!" Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight... It's hard to let go... Yes, I watched that commercial a million times, and I also loved playing this game!!
LEGO: Star Wars/Harry Potter
I couldn't pick between these two LEGO games - what I love is the whole fun, tongue-in-cheek LEGO concept!
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Is it the best Gamecube game of all time?!?!? QUITE POSSIBLY! I always played Zelda and Luigi. Never been great at it, but gosh darnit, I love it anyway!
Never AloneThis game is the model of how games featuring indigenous people should be made! It was created through an incredible collaborative process with Alaska Native communities. And what a beautiful game!
Oblivion
I've never played this game myself, but when I was home this summer and feeling really sleepy all the time, I had so much fun watching my sister play it. I could just sit and watch it for hours! The landscape is so beautiful, and it's so fun exploring the map and not knowing what strange ancient ruins or mysterious quests you're going to find.
Pokémon Stadium 2Although the Pokemon card game also deserves a special shout out here, I chose Pokemon Stadium 2 because it got me totally enamoured with the Pokemon world!!
norree and I used to play it with
byrch in her basement on the N64. I LOVED scrolling through the Pokemon to assemble my team based on which ones I thought looked the coolest (spoiler: lots of water and psychic Pokemon!), and we had so much fun playing all the minigames!! Oh, and if you're wondering what Pokemon I am, it's definitely Psyduck.
Peasants' Quest
Okay, this is cheating, but I couldn't think of anything else for Q! My friend Courtney got me into this game, and it was so much fun! Very weird humour...
RunescapeI've had my file since 2004, when some boys in my study hall were talking about this great game they were playing... it's been a little while since I logged on, but I still play it a few times a year! My character is called Yukaii. Hey, I just realised, I'm finally eligible for the 15 Years' Cape!
The Sims 2Ah, the happy sounds of baby chimes, college rock, fire screams, and WooHoo... I love this game so much I run a fanart group called
Art-of-the-Sims!
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4This game came with our eMac, and my sister and I played the heck out of it! The music was actually quite formative...
Skater punk, watch your step, go too fast you'll bump your head! The Urbz: Sims in the CityI played the GBA game SO MANY TIMES!!! One of my favourite games EVER. The cast, the weirdness, the music, the gameplay, the levels, the WHOLE THING!
Stardew ValleyAnother cheating one, but I couldn't NOT include one of my favourite games ever!! The perfect spiritual successor to Harvest Moon, this game is so relaxing and special. My sultry lumberjack lady married Leah! I wish you could marry Sandy...
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?I played this game in summer school around the 4th grade when we had a computer games class. Pretty cool summer school, now you think about it! Not sure which version I played, but I remember enjoying it!
SimCity 4 DeluXeI spent forever trying to think of an X, so this is the closest I'm going to get! Unlike the Sims games, I didn't start playing SimCity until recently. However, it's such an enjoyable game! I love zooming in on the people to see what they're up to and trying to plan a city. Still end up spending way too much on plumbing though...
Yu-Gi-Oh!I was obsessed with the anime, manga, and trading card game. I used to put an angsty burned CD into my portable CD player, sit in my room, and cry thinking about Pegasus's lost love Cecilia... YEP!
ZeldaI fell in love with Zelda by playing her as my main on Super Smash. I've also spent a lot of time watching my sister play Twilight Princess, and I myself played Spirit Tracks on the DS. I also made this Zelda board game for the group Artcrossing, and it got such a lukewarm reception from the recipient I always wish I still had it!
And there you have it! I hope you all enjoyed learning some more about games I've played (or watched) and enjoyed! It turns out a lot of my favourite games start with S... Here are some honourable mentions!
Super Mario Sunshine: The only flaw in this game is that Luigi isn't in it.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: The best Harry Potter game on both the GBA and the Gamecube!
Sonic Adventure 2:
Just you and me, we'll escape to the city... also, CHAO GARDEN!
Mao: The only rule of Mao is that you don't talk about the rules of Mao.
Thinkin' Things 2: One of the first games I ever played, and very formative with its music in particular.........
Life:
norree and I have fun playing this and then making the characters we come up with in the Sims!
