Return of the Feature
Hi everybody. It's been just about a year since my last journal. I still post my art here but I have had a really hard time keeping up since Eclipse. The website moves so slowly and I find it really slow to go through deviations, and it makes my laptop fan go crazy. I'm sorry for not keeping up on everyone's art as much as I would have liked. If anyone has tips for how to make going through my inbox not involve so many clicks, let me know. A lot has happened in the past year. I started a PhD in Celtic and Scottish Studies at the University of Edinburgh. I'm doing it part-time from home. My topic is women's work songs and musical cultures in the British, Irish and Scandinavian fishing industries from the mid-19th to the mid-20th centuries. It's been going pretty well. I love my topic and I enjoy working on it. I'm hoping to go to Shetland and the Isle of Man for fieldwork later this year. Health stuff has been a mixed bag. I got diagnosed with POTS and I am on a ton of medicines. I
May Feature
Hello everyone. It's been awhile! Like everyone else, my sense of motivation and routine has been scrambled by the weird situation we're all in now, even though my everyday life hasn't actually changed that much. The past week has also been weird because my dad had a small stroke a week ago. He's going to be okay, so don't worry about that. But I feel even less energy to create things than usual. Still, I've got some unfinished Women of 1000 drawings started as well as other ones I've been researching, so I hope to be able to share more of that with you soon.
Like most of you, I'm sad about Eclipse being forced on everyone soon. This will pr
Imbolc Feature
Happy Imbolc, and Happy St Brigid's Day! Today was a big day in medieval Ireland. Imbolc was one of the four quarter-days in the Irish calendar. In Tochmarc Emire, a text recorded in the 10th or 11th century, it's described as "when the ewes are milked at spring's beginning". The festival has pre-Christian origins, but nothing is known about how it was celebrated before Christianity. It's unknown whether the pre-Christian goddess Brigid was already associated with Imbolc, and little is understood about the relationship between the goddess Brigid and the saint Brigid. In medieval legends, all recorded by Christian authors, the goddess was asso
Favourite Games A-Z
Hey everyone! I'm doing the Favourite Games challenge that SirWongIII (https://www.deviantart.com/sirwongiii) posted! I'll try my best to fill all the letters, but some of them might be cheating a little bit... ;) Like Sir Wong, I'll try to add fanart where I can, though I haven't been able to find it for all of the games so some will be official art!
Animal Crossing
I am the most fervent supporter of Tom Nook you are ever likely to encounter... I first played this on the Gamecube and then the DS. So many happy hours spent!
Braggart
This is a great card game I first played with my dad and sister norree (https://www.deviantart.com/norree) at the local board games group!
